In Sevastopol, the quality of road work is checked at every stage

At the intersection of Admiral Fadeev and Parkovaya streets in Sevastopol, a major renovation is underway. The contractor has already begun constructing the designated lanes, and laboratory specialists monitor the quality of the asphalt at every stage. At the stage of laying the asphalt concrete pavement, specialists from the State Public Institution “Directorate” laboratory visited the site.

All types of construction materials arriving at the site undergo input, operational and acceptance control. We also keep every stage of work under control. Today we took so-called cores from the fresh road surface to check whether the asphalt laid by the contractor is of the same quality. In addition to the thickness of the asphalt, in the laboratory we will determine the presence or absence of air voids and compliance with regulatory documents. Now tests are carried out within 24 hours, and if there are no comments, the contractor can continue work. If we identify deviations, we will issue instructions, and the workers will have to eliminate them— said the chief specialist of the technical control and laboratory department of the State Institution “Directorate for the Development of Road Transport Infrastructure of the City of Sevastopol” Sergei Fisenko.

The readiness of the facility today is 65%. In the near future, they plan to launch traffic at the intersection, after which the contractor will begin installing drive-in pockets for bus stops. The “Shchitovaya Street” stop will be moved to Parkovaya Street, and the “Parkovaya Street” stop on Admiral Fadeev Street (in the direction to the city) will be moved beyond the intersection.

While the laboratory is working, we are building sidewalks. They have also been expanded. The site employs two units of specialized equipment and more than 10 road workers. The completion date is set for November 2026. But since we are working ahead of schedule, we plan to complete the main stage in the summer and fully open work traffic at the intersection. After the main construction and installation work, we will begin landscaping and landscaping the area using hydroseedingsaid Mikhail Sidorenko, Deputy Director for Production at M-Engineering.

As a result, traffic at the intersection will be organized in dedicated lanes. One of the duplicate pedestrian crossings on Admiral Fadeev Street in the area of ​​building 1B will be moved outside the intersection, and the remaining crossings will be regulated by pedestrian and traffic lights.

In addition, the contractor will install lighting poles and railings along the roadway to prevent people from entering the road in the wrong places.

One of the exits from the parking lot of the Mercury shopping center on Admiral Fadeev Street was also dismantled. In its place there will be a wide sidewalk for pedestrians. Entrance and exit to the shopping center will remain from Parkovaya Street. This will separate traffic flows and increase the safety of all road users.

After completion of all work, the throughput of the intersection will increase, the accident rate will decrease and comfortable conditions will be created for motorists, pedestrians and public transport passengers.
