In Sevastopol, the Regional Youth Media Forum “MediaLab92” brought together schoolchildren, students and their mentors

The 7th Regional Youth Media Forum “MediaLab92” was held in Sevastopol. The participants included 100 activists of media centers of schools and secondary vocational education institutions in the city, as well as 60 teacher-curators of media centers, advisers to education directors. The forum was held for the first time in 2019. The number of activists interested in the field of media communications is growing every year.

This year the regional forum collected the largest number of applications — more than three hundred. This suggests that young people are interested in media not only by consuming information on the Internet and social networks, but also by creating it. The task of senior mentors is to teach young people conscious and thoughtful behavior in the world of media, as well as the fact that the content created should benefit society and convey values,” noted the head of the Department of Education and Science Maxim Krivonos.

In educational institutions of Sevastopol, media centers are actively functioning, which are a point of attraction for children interested in photography and videography, editing and journalism.

As part of the school media center, children learn to write articles, take photographs, edit videos, conduct interviews, talk about some events that take place in the school and the city: it can be some ordinary event, or it can be a special event. We are learning to cover all this. At the same time, we learn self-presentation skills, — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the adviser to the director of education of school No. 30 named after. This year the forum consisted of theoretical and practice-oriented parts. Media specialists told participants the rules of writing good text, taught them how to understand social media trends, shared tips on how to recognize fakes, as well as how to manage personal channels and channels of their associations. In the creative part of the forum, activists were asked to create videos on social topics. Here the guys learned to work in a team, write a script for their video, shoot and edit a video.

There was also an educational block for teachers and advisors to directors on education and interaction with children’s public associations that oversee the activities of media centers.

The event was organized by the regional resource center of the All-Russian project “Navigators of Childhood” with the support of the Department of Education and Science and the Regional Management Center.
