In Simferopol, the investigation of criminal cases against a local drug farmer has been completed
In Crimea, an investigator from police department No. 2 “Kyiv” of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol completed an investigation into criminal cases of illegal possession of narcotic drugs and cultivation of narcotic plants. Charges have been brought against a 48-year-old resident of the Crimean capital.
Earlier, at the defendant’s place of residence, employees of the drug control department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Simferopol discovered and seized more than 600 grams of marijuana and 123 bushes of growing hemp.
During the interrogation, the man explained that he grew prohibited plants to get rid of the pain that tormented him. The path to a “healing hobby” began with a happy accident: having discovered that hemp bushes were spontaneously growing on the territory of his household, the person involved decided to pluck and dry parts of the plant. The “harvest” became scarce, and already in March of this year the suspect bought hemp seeds and planted them at his place of residence in 10 flower pots. The Simferopol resident carefully looked after all the bushes, creating favorable conditions for growth.
The accused hid the collected and dried parts of the plant in various parts of his household: on a tree, in a kitchen cabinet, in a shed. However, police officers found all the “hiding places” and seized the contents,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
According to the expert’s conclusion, the seized substance of plant origin with a total weight of 631.85 grams is the narcotic drug marijuana, and 123 bushes are hemp plants containing the narcotic substance.
The detainee explained that he was engaged in cultivating narcotic plants and storing drugs exclusively for personal use, without the intention of selling them.
Currently, the materials of criminal cases initiated under Part 1 of Art. 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or their precursors” and under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, production, processing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues”, together with the approved indictment, were sent to court. The Simferopol resident could face up to 10 years in prison.
The police remind you: growing and storing prohibited plants is a violation of the law. For treatment, it is better to consult a doctor rather than look for information in unverified sources.
