In Crimea, a suspect in the theft of awards of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War was detained.
A local resident turned to the police with a statement about the disappearance of the orders and medals of his father, a veteran, from the house. Among them are the Orders of the Patriotic War and the Red Star, the medals «For Military Merit» and «For the Capture of Berlin». The investigation found that the attacker entered the premises by breaking the front door. He stole 13 family heirlooms, as well as video equipment and personal belongings of the owner.— said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
On this fact, the investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Simferopol region initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 3 of article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
As a result of operational-search activities, the police located and detained the suspect. During a search at his address, eight stolen medals were seized. Five more awards were found by police in an antique shop. They will be returned to the veteran’s family soon.— said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
