In Yalta, a criminal investigation into a series of serious crimes has been completed
The Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yalta has completed a criminal investigation against a 23-year-old foreign citizen accused of committing a series of serious crimes.
Earlier, a 19-year-old local resident contacted the police with a complaint of theft of personal property. During operational search activities, with the force support of the special forces of the Russian Guard, the suspect was detained. The investigation established that the victim met the accused at a car service center where he was repairing a car. Taking advantage of the young man’s trust, the attacker, who had previously been convicted and was illegally staying in Russia, systematically extorted large sums of money and jewelry from him, threatening him with physical harm and citing criminal connections. The last straw was the demand to hand over a large sum of money at knifepoint, which forced the victim to turn to the police for help. The total damage caused to the victim amounted to about 700 thousand rubles— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
During the investigation, the man was charged with five counts: two under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 161 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery with threat of violence), three under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion with the use of violence, on a large scale). The sanctions of these articles provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to seven years.
The criminal case has been transferred to court, and the accused is being held in custody until sentencing.
