Lecturers from the Knowledge Society introduce Sevastopol youth to the fates of WWII heroes

On the eve of Victory Day, thematic lectures, film lessons, quizzes and meetings are held in schools and universities in Sevastopol. Lecturers from the Knowledge Society tell the children about examples of courage and heroism on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Educational events became part of the national project “Youth and Children”.

We talk about historical events through the lives of ordinary people. After all, the generation of Winners gave us priceless examples of courage, valor, nobility and self-sacrifice, which continue to inspire us decades later. And they are the ones who make history come alive, help young people experience and feel the cost of the Victory, and understand why they need to defend the freedom and independence of their country— shared the director of the branch of the Knowledge Society in Sevastopol, Anna Glukhova.

With students of gymnasium No. 8 named after. N. T. Khrustalev was met by the head of the public organization “Grenadier”, lecturer of the “Knowledge” society Ilya Davydov. He told the children about the stories of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and the Crimean offensive operation, about the events of the decisive battles that changed the course of history.

The value of the feat was also discussed at boarding school No. 1. A veteran of a special military operation, a member of the Association of Veterans of the North Military District of Sevastopol, a lecturer at the Knowledge Society, Alexander Safonov, discussed with schoolchildren examples of heroism of people of different ages and professions: military leaders, soldiers, doctors, artists, photographers, logisticians and children of war. He told the children about the young Marina Raskova, who created several women’s air regiments, about the poet Konstantin Simonov, whose poems inspired the soldiers, about Seryozha Pyatovsky, who at the age of 8 became a nurse at an evacuation hospital and reached Berlin, providing assistance to the soldiers.

A lecture for students of Sevastopol State University was given by Galina Arkhipova, a member of the Association of Veterans of the Northern Military District of Sevastopol, lecturer of the Knowledge Society. During the dialogue, boys and girls shared their understanding of patriotism and heroism, talked about the role of the unity of the people and the importance of supporting the rear for the common Victory. The guys noted that everyone can be a hero in everyday life, for this it is enough to be honest, help those who need it, and show love for the Motherland not in words, but in daily actions.

During the week, educational events will continue in city schools, Sevastopol State University and in the Tauride Chersonese Museum-Reserve.

Let us remind you that lectures, film screenings and thematic meetings dedicated to the preservation of historical memory are held throughout the country as part of the all-Russian event “Great Victory Day” of the Russian Society “Knowledge”. For the convenience of lecturers, website ready-made teaching materials are posted: documentaries with rare chronicles, as well as a series of film lectures covering the topics of the destruction of culture by the Nazi regime, the tragedy of the concentration camps and the significance of the Nuremberg trials. Anyone can join the event as a lecturer using the prepared scripts.

In addition, on May 6 there will be a special broadcast for schoolchildren «Inventions of Victory» within the framework of the project “Russia — my horizons”. Listeners will learn about the scientific achievements of Soviet scientists who worked for the needs of the front and rear.
