Magnetic storms are approaching the Earth again
Over the next 24 hours, weak and medium magnetic storms will hit the Earth due to new flares on the Sun. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Geomagnetic disturbances began on Earth in the morning. The Earth is clearly being affected by a coronal hole. Storms of level G1-G2 are almost certainly expected to begin in the coming hours— the Laboratory reports.
Flash activity, according to scientists, remains moderate, but is in the risk zone. A large group of sunspots emerges into the central part of the solar disk, which at the end of March produced the only X-level flare in two months.
In this situation, any cloud of plasma will fly directly to the Earth with a high probability of a radiation storm. In this case, it may be possible to observe live what protocols NASA has for such situations — broadcast from the cameras of the lunar ship works continuously, although sometimes it shows a blue screen, the message says.
Scientists specify that the influence of the solar hole is expected on Thursday and Friday. According to the schedule on the Laboratory website, the first storm will begin at 18:00. Also, geomagnetic disturbances will repeat after midnight.
On the night of April 1–2, the first manned flight to the Moon since 1972 took place, during which a crew of four will go beyond the protective effects of the Earth’s magnetic field for the first time in more than half a century. As reported at the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, the progress of the expedition may be influenced by emission of solar plasma.
