Magnetic storms expected on Earth on October 28 and 29

Coronal holes periodically emerge on the Sun-Earth line and send a stream of fast and dense solar wind towards our planet. This is happening now: two coronal holes with numbers 91 and 92 at once emerge into the central part of the solar disk, beginning to have a possible impact on the Earth’s magnetosphere, — he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Based on the forecast, the Earth will cross the flow of solar plasma on Tuesday and Wednesday, which will provoke disturbances in the geomagnetic field.

According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, magnetic storms will begin in the afternoon of October 28 and end by lunchtime on October 29. Their strength will not exceed the G1 level, which is considered a weak storm. The probability is estimated at 70-75 percent.

The year 2025 will see the highest solar activity over the past 11 years, there is a high probability of strong magnetic storms on Earth, scientists previously stated.
