MediaLab Forum: Sevastopol schoolchildren are mastering the world of modern media

CrimeaPRESS reports:

At the Youth Center, as part of the MediaLab project, a forum was held for schoolchildren aged 12-16 with the support of Rosmolodezh.Grants, the Youth Affairs Directorate and the Information Policy Directorate. Young participants attended lectures on important aspects of the media sphere: working with information, protecting against false news and the impact of digital technologies on the individual.

Educational media projects that are being implemented today in Sevastopol form a large unified ecosystem. This helps young people develop and become sought-after media professionals— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the information policy department, Alexander Nazarov.

The forum experts were Daria Kotrova, head of the social media department of the Sevastopol TV and Radio Company, and Nina Khalilova, finalist of the “NOISE” award and author of the “Call Sign” project. They told the children about the secrets of creating interesting and popular news and how the media influences society.

“MediaLab” is a grant project that united Sevastopol schoolchildren and provided an opportunity to gain new skills in the field of media. By communicating with professionals and participating in creative play, the children learned how to work with information efficiently and create their own interesting content. This forum will help our youth improve their level of media literacy and open new paths for further development in this area,” notes the head of the youth affairs department, Marina Slonchenko.

At the end, the guys took part in the author’s “Big Media Game”, where they used the knowledge they gained in practice. Schoolchildren took on the roles of bloggers, journalists, government officials and corporations, competing for a place in the “main feed of the day.”

The head of the MediaLab project is Vladimir Kornienko, a media educator, documentary director, director of more than 12 youth projects and creator of 46 films.
