An accomplice of telephone swindlers who stole 2.4 million rubles from pensioners was detained in Sevastopol.

Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol detained an accomplice in a series of frauds. In the first days of March, the city police registered eight cases of deception committed according to the classic criminal scheme «Your relative got into an accident.» The victims of illegal activities were residents of the Leninsky and Gagarinsky districts aged 81 years and older. The total amount of material damage caused amounted to 2.4 million rubles.— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

The police found that the same person came to the addresses of the victims and took the money. As a result of operational-search activities, the police detained the suspect after he committed another criminal act.

Worked for a tenth.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers found out that a 53-year-old local resident found an advertisement in one of the messengers about illegal earnings as a courier for telephone scammers. Having contacted the curator in correspondence, he received detailed instructions and gave his consent to participate in the criminal scheme. Further, according to the instructions received, the attacker came to the residential addresses of senior citizens by taxi, took the money and transferred it to the accounts of accomplices, while receiving a reward in the form of 10% of the stolen amount.

During the inspection of the detainee’s personal belongings, 130,000 rubles, stolen by fraudulent means, were confiscated, which he did not have time to transfer to his anonymous leaders. In addition, during the inspection of his mobile phone, the police found data confirming the involvement of the offender in illegal activities.— told the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

Criminal cases were initiated against the man on the grounds of a crime under Parts 2 and 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The person involved was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
