Mopeds are still being stolen in Yalta

A 67-year-old local resident contacted the Yalta police with a message about the theft of a vehicle. The woman said that an unknown person stole her moped, parked near the house, through free access. The stolen vehicle was not fastened with an anti-theft cable, there was no alarm. The amount of damage is 33,000 thousand rubles. As a result of operational-search activities, police officers identified the perpetrators and detained them. The suspects were two 18-year-old local residents with no previous convictions.— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
During the interrogation, the detainees explained that they had noticed a moped parked near the house for a long time and knew that there was no anti-theft protection on the vehicle. The suspects chose the moment, made sure that no one was watching them, and stole it.
The suspects pleaded guilty and wrote a confession. The stolen moped was found and seized.
The investigator of the police department No. 3 «Massandrovsky» of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yalta initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). According to the sanction of the article, malefactors face punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years.
