More than 130 million rubles will be spent on land reclamation in Crimea

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In 2023, more than 130 million rubles are provided for land reclamation activities in the republic. Within the framework of the state program of effective involvement in the circulation of agricultural land and the development of the reclamation complex of the Russian Federation, 14 Crimean agricultural producers will receive subsidies.

Thus, this year it is planned to carry out irrigation and drainage measures on an area of more than 380 hectares, that is, the construction of new drainage systems with the installation of drip irrigation. As part of agroforestry measures, it is planned to plant forest belts to prevent soil weathering and the removal of the fertile layer on an area of more than 2.5 hectares. Thanks to cultural and technical measures on an area of more than 1.7 thousand hectares, it is planned to clear fallow lands that have not been exploited for several decades. I note that such work is the most time-consuming and costly. On virgin lands, it will be necessary to clear a large area of woody and herbaceous vegetation, remove hummocks, stumps, stones, carry out plantation plowing and primary tillage for laying new gardens, vineyards, berry fields and other crops— Andrey Savchuk, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, is quoted by the press service.

According to Andriy Savchuk, last year, thanks to the reclamation work carried out by 12 Crimean agricultural enterprises, 6 agricultural producers built and technically re-equipped drip irrigation systems in orchards, vineyards, berry fields and fields where vegetables were grown on an area of more than 200 hectares, as well as using wide-sprinkler sprinklers technically modernized the on-farm reclamation system on an area of more than 200 hectares. Another 6 agricultural enterprises carried out a number of cultural and technical activities in 2022, due to which more than 550 hectares of retired agricultural land were involved in the turnover.
