More than a thousand Crimeans have become potential stem cell donors in 2025
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Over the nine months of 2025, 1,071 residents of the Republic of Crimea entered the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors. This is more than in all of 2024, when 1,050 people entered the register.
There are already 3,282 potential stem cell donors in Crimea, three of them have become actual donors.
Let us recall that bone marrow stem cell transplantation is used to treat hematological, oncological and autoimmune diseases. Finding a bone marrow donor is a difficult task. His cells must match the patient’s cells at the genetic level. Such “genetic twins” occur on average in 1 in 10 thousand people. The more potential donors there are in the Federal Bone Marrow Donor Registry, the higher the likelihood of selecting such a “twin” for a seriously ill patient.
The procedure for joining the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors is very simple — donate a few milliliters of blood from a vein. If no contraindications to donation are identified, then the donor is included in the register. You can join the Federal Register of Bone Marrow Donors on the territory of the Republic of Crimea at the State Budgetary Healthcare Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Blood Center» (Simferopol, Kyiv St., 37), as well as in its branches (Yalta, Sverdlova St., 14; Kerch, Karl Marx St., 31; Saki, Lobozova St., 22; Evpatoria, Pobeda Ave., 22), or when conducting “donor days” by the Blood Center’s visiting team in various municipalities.
Reception is held on weekdays every day from 8:00 to 13:00. Information about the work of mobile teams and working Saturdays is regularly published on the Blood Center website and on its social networks. You must have a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation and SNILS with you.
