No money, you say? Before the New Year, Crimeans and Sevastopol residents spent a billion rubles a day

RNCB Bank publishes statistical data: in the period from 25.12.2022G. on 09.01.2023G. residents of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol spent about 9.9 billion rubles in the network of bank payment terminals. This indicator is % higher than for the same period 43g.-2022G. In two weeks, Crimeans made more than 16,6 million transactions (by 23% more than for the same period 2021 y.-2022 y.) — that is, about 720 transactions per minute on average. At the same time, 93% of transactions were made using contactless cards.

It should be noted that the record for the number of payments in payment terminals using RNCB cards was set on 16 December 2022 of the year. On this day, about 1.6 million transactions were made in the amount of about 1.2 billion rubles — these are 1077 payments per minute, or 15 payments per second.

According to the bank, in the period from 25 December 2022 to January 9 2023 of the year, the maximum volume of non-cash payments was recorded in grocery stores, restaurants and cafes, at gas stations, as well as in clothing and footwear stores. Also, when analyzing payments at RNKB payment terminals in December last year, we can conclude that as New Year’s gifts for themselves and loved ones, Crimeans most often paid for trips to hotels, purchased electronic gadgets, household appliances, furniture and perfumes. In addition, on the eve of the new year, the inhabitants of the peninsula actively bought building materials and spent money on health improvement.

It should be noted that in the period from 16 December to January 9, RNKB cardholders made purchases worth 5 billion rubles within 2 million transactions.

The number of non-cash payments in Crimea is increasing every year, also due to the fact that our payment terminals are installed in most retail outlets in the region , says Nikolai Bilan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the RNCB. – Today there are about 43 thousand of them, the growth of the network of payment terminals for the year amounted to 12%.
