Officially: the average pension in 2026 will be 27 thousand rubles
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The average old-age insurance pension in 2026 will exceed 27 thousand rubles, said State Duma deputy Ekaterina Stenyakina RIA Novosti.
The average old-age insurance pension as of July 1, 2025 for non-working pensioners was 25,826.03 rubles. Consequently, after indexation by 7.6%, its size will increase to 27,788.8 rubles, the parliamentarian calculated.
Indexation will take place on January 1. Over the next two years, indexation will be carried out in two stages: February 1 and April 1, with a total increase of about 7.5-8% annually.
The insurance pension is paid to Russians upon reaching retirement age, becoming disabled, or upon losing a breadwinner. To be granted a pension, it is not enough to reach retirement age. You also need to collect the required number of pension points and earn the required work experience. Both in 2025 and in 2026, this is a minimum of 30 points and 15 years of experience. As for the social pension, its size does not depend on length of service and contributions. Its recipients are Russians who do not have enough experience, or none at all.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Alexei Govyrin, in a conversation with Parlamentskaya Gazeta, said that when applying for a pension, it is important not to limit yourself to one application for its appointment. It is worth submitting a separate application to the Social Fund of Russia with a request to indicate which periods of service and what amounts of earnings are taken into account when calculating the payment.
Until 2002, periods of work that are documented are taken into account, for example, by an entry in a work book or a certificate of work. After 2002, only the periods for which the employer paid insurance contributions to the Pension Fund, and now to the Social Fund, are taken into account. Also, to determine the right to a pension, non-insurance periods are taken into account, including military service, time spent caring for a child up to one and a half years old, the elderly, and the disabled.
