The Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kerch completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 37-year-old local resident suspected of illegally acquiring, storing, transporting, without intent to sell, narcotic drugs on a large scale.

As a result of an authorized search at the place of residence of the attacker, police officers found and seized a paper bundle and a polymer bag with a powdery substance inside— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea. — According to the expert opinion, the substances weighing 12.33 grams and 1.27 grams submitted for examination contain a narcotic drug — methadone. Also, during operational activities, electronic scales were seized at the place of residence of the citizen.

The preliminary investigation established that the man purchased the drug via the Internet, «for the purpose of personal use.»

Currently, the materials of the criminal case initiated by the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kerch on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, sent to the prosecutor’s office of the city of Kerch for approval of the indictment. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to 10 years.
