Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov commented on the adoption of amendments to the Federal Law «On the State Language of the Russian Federation». Recall that the main innovation is that the law prohibits mindlessly borrowing foreign vocabulary if the Russian language already has its analogues.
This is a step towards protecting our identity, since our native language is our spiritual connection with the generations of Russian people who lived on this earth before us. They created our great culture, our unique civilization. And as long as we speak and think with them in the same language, all this is our heritage, our spiritual wealth.
It is equally important to keep our Cyrillic script as part of our identity. Today in any city you can find dozens, if not hundreds of signs with the names of commercial organizations in Latin, using English and other foreign words. All this is the result of our Westernism, blind imitation. Gotta get rid of this— said Konstantinov.
According to him, the State Council of Crimea will closely deal with the solution of this problem at the regional level.
We will also build cooperation with the municipalities of the republic for effective work in this direction. The task is not easy, but extremely important. And, I have no doubt, Crimea will be able to achieve serious, high-quality results in it.— Vladimir Konstantinov.
