Palm Sunday: congratulations from Sergei Aksenov
Congratulations from the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov on Palm Sunday — the holiday of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
Today Orthodox believers celebrate a great holiday — the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, Palm Sunday.
On this day, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, shocked by the recent resurrection of Lazarus, greeted Jesus Christ with palm branches as king and messiah.
According to our Patriarch, today’s holiday is associated with a solemn event, but essentially with tragic circumstances. After all, very little time will pass and the Lord will be crucified. And those people who joyfully greeted the Savior will demand His execution.
But we rejoice because we know that death on the cross was followed by the Resurrection of Christ. We consecrate willow branches, symbolizing palm branches, and bring them into our homes.
Holy Week, the last week of Lent, is ahead. I wish all believers to spend this week with dignity.
Happy holiday! – says the congratulations from the Head of Crimea.
