Participants of the “Sevastopol — City of Heroes” program congratulate veterans on the upcoming Victory Day
Participants of the special military operation, finalists of the educational program “Sevastopol — City of Heroes” Damir Akmanov and Mikhail Kurtasov visited the home of Great Patriotic War veteran Vasily Sergeevich Zolotarev. This year the veteran celebrated his centenary.
Participants in the educational program expressed respect to Vasily Sergeevich for his military feat, wished him good health and presented gifts and flowers.
Vasily Sergeevich was born in the Voronezh region and with the beginning of the war he delivered summons to collective farms. In 1943, he was drafted into the army, where he served in an anti-aircraft artillery regiment, defending key facilities at the front, including the GRES-2 station near Kharkov. The regiment in which the veteran served took part in the liberation of Hungary. After the war, he continued to serve in the air defense forces, including in Sevastopol and Crimea.
When we once congratulated veterans on May 9 and gave them flowers, we most often wished for a peaceful sky above our heads. And today these words ring especially true. In current events, we have no right to forget our history. We are obliged to pass it on to our heirs. Vasily Sergeevich looks great for his age: a strong handshake, a straight back. We can only follow his example. We are doing everything so that victory is ours, — emphasized Mikhail Kurtasov, a participant in the “Sevastopol — City of Heroes” program.
Damir Akmanov noted the importance of transferring experience and values from veterans of the Great Patriotic War to the current defenders of the Motherland and the younger generation.
We, as veterans of a special military operation, must adopt from veterans of the Great Patriotic War the values and experience of working with the younger generation in order to continue to promote our ideas, instill in young people a love for the Motherland, for life and a willingness to defend it,” summed up the Northern Military District veteran.
At the end of the meeting, Vasily Sergeevich Zolotarev gave important advice to future generations — not to lose heart and love your Motherland.
Let us remind you that on the eve of Victory Day, participants in the educational program “Sevastopol — City of Heroes” congratulate participants of the Great Patriotic War at home, maintaining an important connection between generations.
