Peonies and irises bloomed in the KFU Botanical Garden
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In the Botanical Garden. N. V. Bagrova of the Crimean Federal University, peonies and irises bloomed en masse. Flowering will continue for another 7-10 days. The collection of peonies of the botanical garden includes more than 90 varieties. You can admire them at the Big Flower Glade exposition.
Peony is one of the most spectacular blooming perennials with luxurious flowers that have a huge variety of tones, midtones and shades of white, pink and red. Also, this amazing plant has a unique palette of aromas: different varieties can smell like roses, lily of the valley, cloves, violets, mint, cinnamon and even baked milk.— the press service of the university quotes the engineer of the KFU Botanical Garden Anastasia Stepanenko.
The collection of irises includes more than 450 varieties. You can see them at the Big Flower Meadow and Iridarium expositions.
Irises are also called «northern orchids». According to ancient Greek legend, they were named after the goddess Irida. They appeared in nature where the feet of the goddess descended from Mount Olympus touched the ground.— says Anastasia Stepanenko.
According to her, irises are also distinguished by an abundance of colors: from white and blue to almost black, from cream and pink to bright orange and brown-red.
