CrimeaPRESS reports:

What do drunken conflicts “on domestic grounds” lead to?

The police of the Simferopol region received a telephone message from a medical institution in the city of Simferopol stating that an unknown man was brought to them, to whom doctors diagnosed bodily injuries, qualified as causing grievous bodily harm.

In the course of carrying out operational-search activities, the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Simferopol region identified the victim man, born in 1982, and also received information about citizens who may be involved in the crime. The operatives identified and detained the suspects, they turned out to be a previously convicted 35-year-old local resident and his 37-year-old friend, who the day before, being near the household, drank alcohol with the victim. During the event, a conflict arose between friends on a domestic basis, which ended with the infliction of multiple bruises, beatings and abrasions on the victim, as a result of which the man is in a coma— reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.

A criminal case was initiated against the accused on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, dangerous to human life, committed by a group of persons”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to twelve years. The persons involved were chosen as a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
