In Sevastopol, for the fourth year, a holiday dedicated to Pregnant Women’s Day has been held. The event was organized by specialists from City Hospital No. 5 and the Center for Social Assistance to Family and Children. The participants were future parents, doctors, psychologists and social workers. The goal is to support women during pregnancy.
Expectant mothers received information about breastfeeding, the basics of caring for a child in the maternity hospital and at home, as well as the impact of a healthy family lifestyle on the development of the baby.
Social workers explained government support measures to expectant mothers, invited them to consultations with specialists and presented gifts for the babies: baby suits, diapers, bedding and hygiene products.
Specialists at the Social Assistance Center are ready to support families from the very beginning. Our work is aimed at ensuring that families know what support they can count on from the state. We work in antenatal clinics, maternity hospitals, children’s clinics and on our own sites. We advise on benefits, payments, legal services, and provide psychological support. In addition, we distribute visual information materials where mothers can learn about free government services in the first years of a child’s life. For example, within the framework of the “Family” national project, certain categories of families can use the “Social Nanny” service and rental of essential goods for children under two years of age,” said Natalya Avtukhova, deputy director of the Center for Social Assistance to Family and Children.
Psychologists conducted a mini-training to reduce anxiety before childbirth and gave recommendations for peaceful sleep for babies.
During my first pregnancy, I didn’t attend this holiday. This time my friend called me. I’m very glad I came. An interesting event, gifts are a nice bonus. This is useful for mothers who are preparing to become mothers for the first time. They give a full breakdown of events, for example, on breastfeeding, which are held here free of charge. Despite being pregnant for the second time, it still feels like you’re going through it all over again. The level of usefulness is ten out of ten. And for those who are waiting for the first, and for those who already have children — every time they tell something new,” noted event guest Victoria Ilchenko.
A practical part was organized for men. Fathers who came to the holiday took part in a doll swaddling competition. One of the central events was the summing up of the results of the photo competition “Traditions in our family”, to which about 40 photographs were sent. The winners in the general vote were the large Zubovich family.
The next Pregnant Women’s Day in Sevastopol will take place in October 2026.
Let us remind you that since the beginning of 2026, more than 800 children have been born in Sevastopol. Maternity and childhood protection is part of the national project “Family”.
