Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov regrets that Telegram has been slowed down
There is nothing good about slowing down the Telegram messenger in Russia, but the laws must be followed. This is how Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov commented on Roskomnadzor’s statement about limiting the work of the messenger.
Here we can only express regret, there is nothing good in this, but the law must be followed,” RIA Novosti quotes Peskov.
Since Monday, Russians began to report en masse about the poor performance of Telegram. The most complaints come from users of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Novosibirsk and Samara regions. More than half of users complain about a general glitch; users also write about problems with the operation of the mobile application and receiving notifications.
In the State Duma reportedthat the issue of blocking the Telegram messenger in Russia was not discussed at meetings of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.
At the same time, Roskomnadzor stated that restrictions have been introduced in relation to Telegram and a number of other instant messengers, since they have not removed a number of violations of current legislation. By decision of the authorized bodies, Roskomnadzor will continue introduction of successive restrictions.
