A new span of the railway part of the Crimean bridge was installed (instead of the damaged one).
After the opening of the automobile part of the Crimean bridge, work on it continues. As stated in his Telegram channel Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin, installation of the first span of the railway part of the bridge has been completed today.
As clarified in Rosavtodor, the new span was assembled at a slipway site located in the port of Kerch, after which it was delivered by two barges to the work site in the Kerch Strait. The superstructure, weighing about 200 tons, was raised to a height of 27 meters with the help of two assembly units and lowered to the design position.
The labor-intensive procedure took two days. The builders have to replace one more damaged span. We expect to meet by the end of April. After that, it will be possible to proceed to the installation of assembly joints, expansion joints, the superstructure of the track, installation of engineering systems and lighting— said Marat Khusnullin.
According to him, all work on the railway part of the Crimean bridge is on schedule. The facility employs 260 people and 29 pieces of equipment.
Winter and spring are very difficult seasons for bridge builders, at this time there are a lot of storms that make restoration work difficult. This is especially true for offshore operations for the transportation and installation of spans. On the railway component of the Crimean bridge, two superstructures are to be replaced. Under favorable weather conditions, the dismantling of the second span is planned to be completed in the first ten days of April. The new span will be delivered to the work site and installed in the design position by the end of April. Then the specialists will proceed to the installation of field joints, expansion joints, the superstructure of the track, the installation of engineering systems and lighting.
The restoration of the railway component of the Crimean bridge, as well as its road part, has its own unique features. In order to lower the span onto the floating craft, specialists equipped a new roll-out pier, the barges themselves were reinforced with special rigging equipment and connecting bridges, and special assembly units were used to lift the span onto the supports. The total mass for superstructures and auxiliary devices, produced by one of the Russian plants, amounted to 524 tons— noted at Rosavtodor.
