Residents of Sevastopol can tell the Bank of Russia about cases of fraud

The regulator conducts an annual survey about the level of satisfaction with the level of protection that banks provide to their clients from fraudsters.
Participants can talk about their personal experiences with cybercriminals, the actions taken, and assess the effectiveness of banking protection. The survey will be open until November 28th.
The results of the study will be used in work with banks to develop additional measures to improve the financial literacy of people and businesses and to strengthen the protection of banking systems from fraudulent attacks.
Last year’s study, which involved about 2 thousand Sevastopol residents, showed that most often women become victims (54.5%). A typical portrait of the victim: age 25-44 years, average income and education. In most cases (67%), the victims were robbed of their own funds, usually not exceeding 20 thousand rubles.
44% of Sevastopol residents surveyed encountered telephone scammers, 18% received messages from criminals in instant messengers, and 9% received emails. The least common scheme (1%) was to apply for a loan in the name of the victim without his knowledge.
Most survey participants ignored the scammers’ demands. But 18% of respondents still transferred money under third-party influence, 16% entered card details on the Internet at the direction of unknown persons, and 11% followed malicious links they received.
