Russia plans to double the number of grounds for deporting migrants
In Russia, the number of grounds for expulsion of migrants will be doubled. Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin announced this on Thursday.
On Monday, the State Duma Council will begin considering a bill to improve public safety and strengthen control over the behavior of foreign citizens. The bill proposes to almost double the list of administrative offenses for which migrants will be subject to deportation– Volodin wrote in his channel at MAX.
In particular, violation of public order, disobedience to the lawful demands of law enforcement officers, and obstruction of the functioning of vital support facilities and infrastructure will be added to the existing grounds for deportation. In addition, migrants will be expelled for distributing information on the Internet that offends human dignity and public morality, for publicly discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, or calling for the introduction or extension of anti-Russian political or economic sanctions.
For a number of offenses, in addition to expulsion, fines may also be imposed, the increase of which is provided for by the legislative initiativeadded the speaker of the Russian parliament.
He also recalled that today the expulsion of migrants is provided for in 22 articles, including drug trafficking, propaganda of pedophilia, gender reassignment, non-traditional sexual relations, violation of immigration rules, state border regime and others.
Since 2024, the State Duma has adopted 22 federal laws aimed at improving migration policy. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in 2025, 72 thousand foreign citizens were expelled from Russia for violating the laws of our country.
