It was considered a very bad sign to see red flowers, swamp, wandering and cemetery lights.
It was very bad to hear the forest echo. They said that if it calls someone, then he would die a terrible death.
Moreover, magical properties were attributed to sunlight on this day. It was forbidden to look at him so as not to incur misfortune.
The Church now honors the memory of the martyr Evtichia, who is known as one of the students of the Holy Apostles Paul and John the Theologian. True, Euthychius himself was not among the 70 apostles close to Christ. Meanwhile, even in this case, he became called the Apostle, since he played a significant role in the formation of the Christian faith in the places of his sermons. It is known that at first Evtikhiy became a student of John the Theologian and went with him on a trip to different countries to preach. Then he meets with the Apostle Paul and after that travels with him. During wanderings, he experienced a large number of torment from the Gentiles. So, Evtichia was thrown into the cage to wild animals, hunger, and cauterized the body with hot iron. As stated in the Scripture, during one of the torture of the lion, released to Euthychius from the cage, suddenly spoke in a human voice, and many witnesses of this phenomenon after that accepted faith in Christ. Unfortunately, Evtichiya still died a martyrdom.
