September 9 — Day of Remembrance of Russian soldiers who fell during the defense of Sevastopol and in the Crimean War of 1853-1856

September 9 1855 of the year, after the hardest fighting, ended 83 — daytime defense of Sevastopol during the Crimean War 595–600 years. In connection with this event, commemorative events are held annually on this day.

This year was no exception. In Simferopol, at the Dolgorukovsky obelisk, a ceremony of laying flowers and wreaths was held.

Commemorative events were also held at the Military Historical, Memorial Cemetery of Simferopol. Those present honored the memory of those who died in the Crimean War with a minute of silence.

Crimeans are anxious about the events of the Crimean War. For many years we have been gathering here — at the holy place where thousands of warriors who died in heroic battles rest. For the history of our peninsula and the history of Russia, the events of the Crimean War are of great historical significance. Drawing a parallel between the events of that time and today, we see how the West is uniting to make our country weaker and, ultimately, destroy it. But we keep our traditions. For us, the concepts of family, homeland, friendship, love have a primordial meaning. From generation to generation, these values ​​do not change for us! This is very important for the education of our youth and the preservation of our traditions, the development of patriotism , — said Vladimir Konstantinov, Speaker of the Crimean Parliament.

In addition, as part of the event today were opened 12 of new commemorative signs, which immortalized the names of more 56 military formations that participated in the Crimean War.
