Sevastopol police: fraud disguised as competitions — be careful!
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Fake messages about non-existent competitions, such as “Face of Law Enforcement Agencies,” are being spread on social networks and instant messengers. Attackers create groups, use photographs and official terminology to give their scam the appearance of authenticity.
How the deception scheme works:
Bait. You receive an invitation to a group or channel where a bright, patriotic announcement about a fictitious competition with the participation of certain “employees” is published
Phishing. You are asked to follow a link to a suspicious website or page in the messenger to “vote”. This site may ask for your personal information, phone number, or infect your device with a virus.
Confirmation. Fraudsters ask you to mark with some symbol (for example, a dot ✔that you «voted». This is necessary to create the appearance of activity and identify real users.
Insulation. In such groups, posting is often prohibited, so that no member can warn others about the scam.

Sevastopol police reminds:
Official competitions from government departments NOT HAPPENED through dubious groups in instant messengers. All official information is published on the website of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol (https://92.mvd.rf/) and in verified official accounts on social networks.
Never click on suspicious links or enter your personal information on such sites. Be careful! Don’t become a victim of deception.
