Sevastopol police: the demand to “explain for the clothes” may result in criminal liability
The Sevastopol police note that many teenagers want to look stylish and fashionable:
At school, on the street or on social networks, everyone follows brands: sneakers, jackets, T-shirts. It seems like cool clothes are just a way to stand out. But among young people there is a dangerous “fashion” — the demand to “explain for your clothes.” It may mistakenly seem that this is a harmless analysis of an outfit or a test “on one’s own.” In fact, such actions can result in beatings and fall under articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Let’s understand the terms
“Explain about your clothes” is a requirement to explain by what right you have to wear certain clothes (branded, with a logo, or a “singed” replica). If you don’t like the answer or the person is “off topic,” they can beat you up, take away your belongings, or make a video for the public.
This is not just “talk.” Often behind the phrase there is group aggression, hooliganism and the desire to assert oneself at the expense of others.
It is important to understand: such “showdowns” are not child’s play. They are qualified as hooliganism (Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and beatings (Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). “Explain your clothes” is not a way to assert yourself. This is a real crime that maims people and breaks their lives. One “debriefing” can lead to injuries, a criminal case and closed doors to the future.
If you or your friends are approached with a demand to “explain about your clothes,” don’t argue, don’t try to prove it. It is better to leave quietly or immediately call the police on 102. Parents and teachers, talk to your children! Explain that fashion is not worth risking your health and freedom.
