Sevastopol resident, “not suspecting a dirty trick”, gave his moped “for a while” to a casual acquaintance
CrimeaPRESS reports:
There is some strange naivety, infantilism and carelessness in this story, told by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol. Judge for yourself: a 27-year-old Sevastopol resident gave his moped for a ride to a random 41-year-old acquaintance — a foreigner, also without a fixed place of residence. Would an adult do this? Again in the message, to put it mildly. The reason why the attacker needed someone else’s moped is annoying — he did not hide it.
The police found that a 41-year-old native of neighboring countries without a fixed place of residence asked his 27-year-old local acquaintance to lend him a moped for a trip to collect drugs. Unaware of a trick, the man handed over his vehicle, which the attacker stole and sold by posting an ad on the Internet. As a result of operational-search activities, officers of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Leninsky district detained the suspect. As it turned out, the foreigner spent the proceeds of crime on drugs for personal use.— reported the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The outcome of the story is almost blissful. The perpetrator has been arrested. But the fate of the moped is still vague …
A criminal case was initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Fraud», he faces up to five years in prison. The person involved was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation— summed up in the Sevastopol police.
