These tombs contain reliefs, inscriptions, burial shafts with crypts, and fragments of mummies. However, the participants of the expedition will be able to study not only the ancient Egyptian culture: they will be able to get acquainted with the Coptic culture, the medieval history of Mamluk Egypt, the ethnography and modern culture of this North African country. It is very important that the expedition is of a complex regional studies character, Viktor Lebedinsky said.

Last year, employees of SevSU already worked in Egypt and successfully held a scientific and practical seminar «Digital Technologies in Archaeological Research». The tombs, reliefs and hieroglyphic inscriptions were digitized, which makes it possible to see and study both large forms and the smallest details. This year, scientists intend to create a digital twin of virtually all the tombs in the Giza East Necropolis using state-of-the-art scanners to view the necropolis in a single 3D plan.
