Sevastopol station for young technicians celebrated its 65th anniversary

In Sevastopol, a city children’s technical station was opened in 1933, the successor of which was the Sevastopol Station for Young Technicians, founded in 1960 by war veteran Yuri Tuchinny. Under his leadership, the Station for Young Technicians turned into a large center of technical creativity with clubs, a Small Academy of Sciences and an international-class cordodrome. During the Soviet period, the institution actively developed, expanding its material base and range of areas. Students achieved success at all-Union competitions in aircraft, rocket and ship modeling. After 1991, the institution, having undergone a series of renamings and retaining the status of a center for technical creativity, in 2011 returned the historical name “Station of Young Technicians,” which it still bears to this day.

In order for children to come to additional education institutions, they need to be interested. The Sevastopol Station for Young Technicians unites 8 divisions that implement the best practices and technologies of regional additional education. The institution of additional education today includes the Young Technicians Station, the Quantorium children’s technology park, the Quantorium mobile technology park, and the IT-cube children’s digital education centers. The institution has 6,067 children in 33 associations. Training is provided in 142 educational programs in the following areas: technical, social, humanitarian, and artistic. The contingent of disabled children and children with disabilities is 8 people.

Our students are future engineers, programmers, and medical specialists. Pupils participate in competitions at various levels; when they take prizes, this is our main achievement. The plans are to open another structural unit and develop for the benefit of our city,” noted Elena Kiseleva, acting director of the Sevastopol station for young technicians.

The event brought together teachers, employees, labor veterans, graduates, students and parents. The staff of the institution together with the students prepared a festive concert. For many years of conscientious work, contribution to the development of additional education in the city of Sevastopol, as well as success in the education and upbringing of children and youth, the employees of the Young Technicians Station received awards from the Government, the Governor, the Legislative Assembly, and the Department of Education and Science.
