Sevastopol teacher-librarian Maria Likhacheva is a participant in the library practices competition

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Maria Likhacheva, teacher-librarian of secondary boarding school No. 1 of Sevastopol, will take part in the All-Russian professional skills competition “The Best School Teacher-Librarian of Russia”, organized by the “Knowledge” society together with the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.

The city will also be represented by school No. 57, which took part in the competition “The Most Reading School in Russia” in the category “Best Practice for Involving Students in Grades 1–4 in Reading.”

This year, 7,529 teachers from 89 regions of Russia took part in the competitions, submitting 4,933 applications. At the regional stages, participants hold thematic events, intellectual tournaments “Knowledge.Game”, and also defend original projects aimed at developing interest in reading, education and self-realization of schoolchildren.

I am glad that we were able to cover all of Russia with this competition. And, you know, it’s nice to know that school libraries today are truly in full swing. Children discover the world of literature outside the school curriculum, become imbued with reading, expand their horizons, and become inspired. We see that children have an interest in reading, and our common goal with teachers is to support it, to involve even more young people in this process— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the general director of the Knowledge Society, Maxim Dreval.

At the upcoming stages of the “Best School Teacher-Librarian of Russia” competition, participants will conduct extracurricular activities using master lectures and complete tasks on professional competencies.

The finalists of the competitions will be announced at the end of November. In December, the best participants will meet in Moscow at the 1st International Forum of School Librarians, where final tests will be held and an award ceremony will take place.
