Sevavtodor is preparing the road network for the spring-summer season. Sevavtodor is putting the city’s road infrastructure in order after the winter period. Specialists perform mechanical and manual cleaning of roadways, curbs, stops and roadside areas around the clock. Today, road workers are washing and cleaning the Kamysovo Highway, the Simferopol-Bakhchisarai-Sevastopol, and Sevastopol-Inkerman highways.

The period after winter is an important preparation of roads for the spring-summer season and updating road markings. We wash away all the dirt that has accumulated over the winter: this includes dust, remnants of anti-icing materials, in particular, ordinary table salt. Together with dirt, it forms a persistent coating, so it is important to thoroughly clean not only the roadway, but also curbs, markings, and stop pavilions,” explained the foreman of the Sevavtodor maintenance site, Dlyaver Nemetullaev.

According to experts, washing is especially effective in rainy weather or after precipitation: rain soaks dried dirt and dust in the pores of the asphalt, and a powerful jet from a sprinkler easily cleans the road surface. This saves water consumption and reduces cleaning time. Maintenance work also involves using new specialized attachments for washing curbs, which were made available to road workers about ten days ago. After three days of testing, the machine is already used in daily work.

The equipment is attached to a combined road vehicle and is designed for standard-section curbs. Previously, workers had to wash them by hand, which took several days. Now the machine washes such an area in half an hour. The technique is used to ensure road safety, as well as before applying vertical road markings. This brush is controlled from a remote control, the operator does not leave the cab,” added Dlyaver Nemetullaev.

In four days of work, the new equipment has already helped clear about 100 kilometers of curbs on the city’s road network. 25 units of special equipment are involved in mechanized cleaning of the road surface around the clock. In addition, to ensure safe passage, road workers carry out pothole repairs on roads. Such work has already been carried out on General Ostryakov Avenue, Monastyrskoe Highway, st. Admiral Oktyabrsky and in Cossack Bay.
