Seven teachers from kindergartens in Sevastopol are competing for the title “Teacher of the Year 2026”

The X regional stage of the All-Russian competition of professional skills “Teacher of the Year in Russia — 2026” has started in Sevastopol. Seven kindergarten teachers are competing for the title of best and the opportunity to represent the city at the federal finals.

Professional skills competitions are important for the education system. This is an opportunity to identify best practices, to determine the best teacher and educator this year. Based on the results of the competition, unique practices are scaled up and implemented in kindergartens in the region. This year is an anniversary for us — for the 10th year Sevastopol has participated in the “Teacher of the Year in Russia” competition. I hope that the jury will appreciate the individual practices and methods of our teachers and will determine the strongest competitor who will represent Sevastopol at the All-Russian final,” said Maxim Krivonos, director of the Department of Education and Science.

At the opening of the competition, each participant was introduced to the jury, and a draw also took place — the contestants learned the topic of their first in-person test, “Pedagogical event with children.”

The correspondence stage is behind us: in a video card, the teachers talked about themselves, their work and motivation to participate in the competition. Competition days are ahead: teachers will conduct a lesson with a group of children unfamiliar to them on a given topic and conduct an educational event with parents. The strongest competitors will present their master classes and take part in the “Blitz Tournament” to solve practical professional problems.

I have been in the teaching profession for four years. Previously, I was an aircraft mechanic, then an English teacher, and being a teacher is aerobatics. I made the decision to participate in the competition a long time ago, but I lacked experience and knowledge. Now there is a certain baggage that I came into the competition with. Participation in a competition is a way out of your comfort zone, an opportunity to look at your strengths and evaluate your professional activities. The most important secret in working with children is to be in a state of joy and happiness.“, shared the teacher of kindergarten No. 69 Oleg Lonshakov.

The first All-Russian professional competition “Teacher of the Year in Russia” was held in 2010 on the initiative of the Trade Union of Public Education and Science Workers of the Russian Federation and has since become an important element in the development of the professional community and the education system as a whole.
