“Silver” volunteering is developing in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
For Sevastopol pensioners, the silver age is a time for new hobbies along with the “Active Longevity” program. They learn computer literacy, do sports, vocals, and Nordic walking. And such events are organized under the national project “Family”.
For example, Natalya Shchetkina is a “silver” volunteer, she is 76 years old. For more than nine years she has been visiting the Sevastopol City Social Service Center. Together with the center’s staff, she participates in cultural life and helps organize leisure time for the elderly and disabled.
I have worked all my life in the field of music education: I taught piano, directed choirs, was an accompanist, worked with children and adults in schools, colleges and cultural centers in Sevastopol, Gubkin, Severodonetsk and other cities. In addition, I have always been interested in literature, wrote memoirs, participated in a literary and creative association, and in recent years I have been actively involved in volunteer activities — conducting music classes for the disabled and pensioners. My life is a service to music, people and creativity– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Natalya Shchetkina.
The woman learned about the center from a public veterans organization. In addition, she herself was actively interested in the life of the city and always sought to keep abreast of events.
At the center, a whole world of help, communication and development is open to me. I have access to wellness treatments, gym classes, and lessons on mastering modern gadgets. All this is, of course, very important. But my heart truly responds to cultural and leisure events, especially holiday concerts. Participation in the cultural life of the center and volunteer work gave me a feeling of relevance and meaning in life even in adulthood“, concluded the volunteer.
You can find interesting activities and new friends in the communication center thanks to the “Family” national project.
