Simferopol wrestler Ali Balbek took silver at the qualifying stage of the Spartakiad of Russian Students

In Slavyansk-on-Kuban, Krasnodar Territory, the qualifying interregional competitions for the final of the XIII Summer Spartakiad of students (youth) of Russia in freestyle wrestling have ended. The tournament brought together 59 of the strongest young athletes from all over the South of Russia. Boys under the age of 16 (born in 2011-2012) competed for tickets to the Spartakiad finals.

The only representative of Crimea at these prestigious competitions was Simferopol resident Ali Balbek. The student of coach Aider Abduramanov confidently beat his opponents in the tournament bracket in the weight category up to 62 kg and reached the final.

In the decisive battle, the Crimean wrestler was opposed by Sultan Kurbanov from the Krasnodar Territory. The match turned out to be tense, but the experience and skill of the opponent prevailed — Ali Balbec lost in the final and won the silver medal. At the same time, reaching the finals of the selection automatically guaranteed him a ticket to the finals of the Spartakiad.

For Crimea, this performance is another confirmation that a worthy replacement of wrestling schools is growing in the region.
