Smaller brothers and the housing issue: they want to establish living space standards for dogs and cats
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Marchenko is going to submit a bill to the State Duma, according to which for each adult cat or dog in an apartment there should be at least 18 “squares” of living space. Only a temporary excess of this norm is allowed when offspring appear before the pets reach the age of six months. These restrictions will not apply to guide dogs.
Currently, the number of pets in residential premises is not limited. This leads to the fact that in ordinary apartments people can keep 15-20 or more cats or dogs, according to the explanatory note to the bill. This causes discomfort to neighbors and creates unsanitary conditions.
Living space standards for cats and dogs have already been introduced in Bashkiria. In the region, at least 18 “squares” of living space are allocated for one large or medium-sized dog. The same norm is established for two cats or two small dogs. There are also restrictions for land owners. On 200 “squares” of land you can keep up to three small dogs or one large or medium dog.
