Social workers in Sevastopol provide assistance to those in need

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the Sevastopol city complex center of social services, 75 social workers annually provide assistance to thousands of those in need. Specialists provide home care in a semi-stationary form, provide urgent social services to the elderly, the disabled and citizens without a fixed place of residence. The center has two departments: in the first, social workers at home serve up to a thousand elderly and disabled citizens. Employees of the second department work with citizens without a fixed place of residence and occupation, monthly employees serve from 80 to 120 people.

At the moment when a person is left alone with his misfortune, illness, loneliness, the same person comes, ready to lend a helping hand — this is our social worker. He goes to the store, to the pharmacy, solves issues with coupons for going to the doctor, assists in cooking, and most importantly, he will say kind words. After all, most of the people we serve are not the people who only need food delivery, these are the people who, first of all, need attention and support.— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the Sevastopol City Complex Center for Social Services Lyubov Yaskunova.

In addition to social services, the center provides medical and psychological assistance. In addition, measures are being taken to increase the communicative potential of city residents with disabilities.

I serve citizens of different years, different views. I worry when my charges are subjected to anguish and despair. The worst thing for an elderly or disabled person is loneliness. One of my wards, a disabled person of the second group, thanks to my perseverance at the age of 80, has mastered ways to communicate with her daughter through modern instant messengers. Now they have the opportunity to communicate in video format every day,” said Oksana Reshetova, a social worker at the Department of Social Services at Home for Elderly and Disabled Citizens.
