However, according to astronomers, plasma emissions towards the Earth are not excluded, and perhaps Russians will celebrate the New Year under flashes of the northern lights.

Number of days with magnetic storms in the outgoing year was the maximum in 10 years, and days with increased geomagnetic background — in twenty years, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences previously reported.
