Student teams of Crimea carried out work to improve the Mass Grave of Soviet soldiers in Kerch

Soldiers of the Crimean regional branch of the Russian Student Detachments held a large-scale patriotic action to improve the Mass Grave of Soviet soldiers of 1941 in the hero city of Kerch. This event became part of the organization’s systematic work to preserve historical memory and care for military graves on the peninsula.

During the cleanup, volunteers completed a significant amount of work to bring the memorial complex into proper condition. The participants of the action thoroughly cleared weeds and mowed grass throughout the entire territory adjacent to the monument, and also updated the external appearance of the object by whitewashing the base of the memorial and the curb stone. Particular attention was paid to clearing the approaches to the burial, which allowed the memorial to return to its well-groomed appearance.

For student groups in Crimea, taking care of the monuments of the Great Patriotic War is not just volunteer work, but our civic duty. It is especially symbolic to hold such actions in Kerch, a city that was the first to take enemy attacks. Through work, through touching these stones, we express our gratitude to those who, at the cost of their lives, gave us a peaceful sky,” noted Ekaterina Denesyuk, head of the Crimean regional branch of Russian student groups.

The republican action “Victory Landing” has been held in Crimea for the eighth year in a row. The project is aimed at patriotic education of youth, popularization of the values ​​of volunteerism and development of the labor potential of students and schoolchildren. In 2026, 600 fighters from student groups will take part in the campaign events throughout the republic.
