Student teams of Crimea collected and donated more than a thousand books to children’s social institutions of the Republic
On the eve of International Book Giving Day, participants of the Crimean regional branch of Russian student teams successfully completed the annual volunteer campaign “Give a Book to a Child.” This year, through joint efforts, more than 1,300 publications were collected for pupils of boarding schools and rehabilitation centers in Crimea.
The promotion took place from January 19 to February 9. The large-scale initiative united not only student fighters from all over the peninsula, but also the general public. The partners of the action were the Public Council of the city of Simferopol, the Crimean branch of the Russian Society «Knowledge», employees of the Crimean Federal University named after V.I. Vernadsky, the ANO «House of Youth», as well as heads of educational organizations and concerned residents of the Republic of Crimea.
This initiative has been implemented in the republic since 2018. The main goal is to popularize reading among the younger generation, develop a culture of volunteering and systematically support library collections in orphanages and specialized institutions. Over the seven years of the campaign’s existence, a total of more than eight thousand books were donated to social organizations in the region.
On February 11 and 12, on the eve of International Book Giving Day, the collected literature was delivered to the recipients. New books have been added to the libraries of the following institutions: State Budgetary Educational Institution of the Republic of Crimea “Lozovsk Special Boarding School”; State Public Institution of the Republic of Crimea “Feodosia Interregional Social Rehabilitation Center for Minors”; GBOU RK «Feodosia Special Boarding School»; State Budgetary Educational Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Feodosia Sanatorium Boarding School».
This action has long become a good tradition for student groups. We understand that the book – it is not just a source of knowledge, but also an important tool of socialization, a window to the big world for children who find themselves in difficult life situations. By handing over these books, our soldiers share a piece of their warmth and care. It is very valuable that every year more and more partners join us, confirming that with joint efforts we can do truly great and important things for the future of our region, – noted Ekaterina Denesyuk, head of the Crimean regional branch of Russian student groups.
Student teams of the Republic of Crimea continue systematic work to develop volunteer initiatives in the Republic of Crimea, involving young people in solving socially significant problems.
