An attempt to commit a terrorist attack against employees of the Russian FSB, organized by the Ukrainian intelligence services, was prevented in Crimea. This was reported by the Public Relations Center of the FSB of Russia.
According to the department, a representative of the special operations forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces contacted a resident of Crimea via messenger, introduced himself as an employee of the Russian FSB and offered to join the security forces. As a test task, the candidate had to bring a portable audio speaker with a recording function into the building of the Russian FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol, supposedly to identify “traitors” in the special service.
After the man arrived at the checkpoint, he was searched and detained by Russian FSB officers. He was found with a homemade high-explosive fragmentation explosive device camouflaged as an audio speaker, consisting of one kilogram of foreign-made explosive, an electric detonator and destructive elements in the form of bearing balls, triggered when activated by the direct perpetratorthe message says.
Representatives of the Ukrainian special services who planned the terrorist attack counted on the fact that the detonation of an explosive device would lead to the death of not only FSB officers, but also the perpetrator himself, who was not even aware of his role as a “suicide bomber.”
FSB officers identified the organizer of the terrorist attack. He turned out to be an employee of a separate special purpose center of the “South” group of the Special Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He is registered in Kramatorsk (a city temporarily controlled by Kyiv in the DPR) and currently lives at an address in Odessa known to the Russian FSB with his wife and young child.
In August last year, an attacker, through fraudulent schemes, already recruited a resident of the Volgograd region as a “living bomb” to transfer an Orthodox icon with a camouflaged explosive device to Russian FSB officers in Simferopol. The terrorist attack was prevented.
A criminal case has been initiated against the SSO officer. The person involved will be put on the international wanted list, detained and prosecuted in accordance with Russian legislation, the law enforcement agency noted.
In Crimea last August detained a resident of the Volgograd region who tried to commit a terrorist attack in the building of the FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol by exploding a homemade bomb built into an icon.
