Telecom operators are testing communication blocking. Who will it affect?

Telecom operators, at the request of regulators, have launched a new mechanism to ensure security and protection against drones. If a SIM card enters Russia from abroad, you need to confirm that it is used by a person and not built into a drone. Until then, mobile Internet and SMS on this SIM card will be temporarily blockedthe message said.

The mechanism began operating in test mode on November 10. For subscribers with Russian SIM cards, a so-called cooling period of 24 hours applies if the SIM card is inactive for 72 hours or when returning from international roaming.

A blocking notification comes via SMS from your telecom operator. The message contains information on how to remove the established restrictions. You can do this at any time by logging in using the link sent by the operator. After this, access to the Internet and SMS will be restored, the Ministry of Digital Development informed.

It is also possible to call the call center and remove the restrictions by going through identification by phone, the ministry clarified.
