The average occupancy of Crimean hotels and sanatoriums in the summer was more than 70%
The average occupancy of hotels and sanatoriums in the summer was more than 70%. The occupancy of sanatoriums is traditionally higher than other accommodation facilities; for many facilities, especially those that operate under social programs, it reaches 100% throughout the year. This was announced by the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Ganziy at the VI National Congress for the Export of Medical Services in the regional session “Best Practices of Medical Tourism in Russia” at the scientific and practical forum “Russian Healthcare Week” in Moscow.
In Crimea, preferential categories of citizens from 55 regions of Russia from the Zaporozhye region to Chukotka, including family and children’s programs, are provided with health benefits year-round. In 2025, the sanatoriums received more than 110 thousand benefit citizens of the Russian Federationsaid the minister.
Today, sanatorium-resort treatment is the predominant year-round direction of tourism in Crimea. 57% of travelers come here for health reasons. And not only people of mature age, but also young people. According to the results of a survey of the Ministry of Resorts of Crimea, 77% of tourists spent more than a week in Crimea: for 42% of tourists, the duration of their vacation was 8-14 days. For the sake of sanatorium and resort services, tourists come on vacation for a longer period.
If we talk about Crimea, then we have great opportunities to return the region to the status of an all-Russian health resort. A virtually inexhaustible supply of natural healing resources makes it possible to actively develop existing balneological resorts and create new ones. Work is underway to attract investors to the construction of sanatoriums, the renovation of Soviet health resorts, and the creation of drinking galleries with mineral springs,” noted Sergei Ganziy.
He also noted that the Republic of Crimea has great potential in the development of medical tourism. In Russia, the following are in demand among medical tourists:
- ophthalmology
- oncology
- traumatology and orthopedics (knee and hip joint replacement)
- cardiovascular surgery
- implantology and dental prosthetics
- dermatology
- rehabilitation.
All these areas are developing in the Republic of Crimea. Separately, the minister noted the development of the neurosurgical area on the basis of the Yalta Multidisciplinary Medical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency in Yalta, where unique operations are performed that have not previously been performed in the region. And also work on the basis of the Crimean Federal University named after. V.I. Vernadsky medical and biological cluster, which includes:
- a multidisciplinary clinical hospital providing high-tech robotic surgery services;
- a research laboratory equipped for research in the field of cell technologies;
- Scientific and Clinical Center «Health and Rehabilitation Technologies».
The minister concluded that the current sanatorium and resort complex of Crimea is a large health industry, focused on the use of a variety of natural healing resources, which are not inferior in their effectiveness to popular world resorts.
