The coast of the Sea of ​​Azov was flooded with jellyfish

According to data, over the past ten years, noticeable climatic changes have been observed in the region: the temperature of water and air is increased, the amount of ice and snow decreases, and the water level in the rivers decreases. To evaluate the consequences of these processes, scientists first organized daily monitoring of the Medus approach to the coast.

The first results show that the areas of the Taganrog Gulf are the least exposed to the invasion of Medus, where the salinity of the waters is minimal. The maximum density of yellowing organisms is stably fixed in the southern part of the Sea of ​​Azov, primarily in the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory— said at the institute.

And they clarified that this is why this area was chosen by SPEC specialists to conduct an experiment to test barriers in order to minimize the negative impact of jellyfish.

According to the researchers, the results of the experiment will help develop effective coast protection measures and will contribute to the implementation of the strategy of sustainable development of the Azovs until 2040.
