The condition of the Crimean key rivers and Lake Donuzlav is planned to be significantly improved. Funding is expected

The draft budget of the Republic of Crimea for 2026 and the planning period 2027-2028 years, a whole range of works has been planned to improve the condition of the peninsula’s water bodies. The funding will affect several key rivers and the unique Lake Donuzlav.

In the coming years, as part of the implementation of the State Program for the Development of the Water Management Complex of the Republic of Crimea and the regional project “Water of Russia”, large-scale work on the clearing and environmental rehabilitation of river beds will begin. Already in 2026-2028 years, at the expense of federal funds, it is planned to clear and regulate the riverbed of the Melek-Chesme River and its tributary, the Katerinza River, in the territory of Kerch and the village of Voikovo; the work will take place in one stage and will affect 10.3 km of water arteries. Also, sections of the bed of the Salgir River in Simferopol with a length of 3.25 km will be cleared.

Work will continue in subsequent years. So, in 2027-2028 years, within the framework of the “Water of Russia” project, it is planned to improve the environmental condition of the hydrographic network. For these purposes, 51.8 million rubles are allocated from the federal budget in 2027 and 20 million rubles in 2028. In just two years, it is planned to clear 23.34 km of the river beds of the Ulu-Uzen, Kuru-Uzen, Ulu-Uzen Vostochny, Orta-Uzen, Alachuk, Andus, Churuk-Su, Belbek, Abdalskaya, Biyuk-Karasu in the territory of the Belogorsk urban settlement and Stepnaya.

A separate important event is planned for 2026 as part of the implementation of certain powers in the field of water relations. Work will be carried out to determine the location of the coastline of the border of the water body of Lake Donuzlav in the Black Sea region. This procedure is of fundamental importance for establishing a legal regime for the use of a unique reservoir and its protection.

In parallel, a program to overhaul the existing water infrastructure continues. Thus, for the overhaul of the hydraulic structure of the Starokrymsky reservoir in 2026-2028 years, 120.5 million rubles will be allocated from the federal budget, which will ensure the safety and reliability of this important facility.

The implementation of these large-scale projects, the financing of which is already included in the draft budget, is aimed at improving the environmental situation, preventing flood situations and ensuring sustainable water supply to settlements and sectors of the Crimean economy.
