The court sentenced two Crimeans who decided to update their wardrobe. How did they try to do it?

The Kerch City Court of the Republic of Crimea prosecuted a 29-year-old resident of the city of Kerch and a 38-year-old resident of the city of Simferopol for theft, that is, the secret theft of someone else’s property, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement.

As established by the court, on November 7, 2022, the defendants, being in a state of alcoholic intoxication, being in the trading floor of the GERD store, acting within the framework of their criminal intent aimed at the joint commission of a crime, according to the previously assigned roles, entered the fitting room, located in the sales area of ​​the specified store, where, making sure that their actions were secret, removing the protective «beacons» and tags attached to the clothes, guided by a mercenary motive, they secretly stole items of clothing for sale in the store, which they brought to each other under the guise fitting, as a result of which they secretly stole two men’s jackets, men’s sports trousers, a men’s sweatshirt— noted in the press service of the court.

Having put on the articles of clothing chosen by them, hiding them in this way, remaining unnoticed by anyone, the defendants fled the scene of the crime, disposing of the things in the future at their own discretion, distributing them among themselves, causing damage to the victim in the total amount of 5,036 rubles by their criminal actions.

The court sentenced the defendants to compulsory labor for a period of 280 hours each.

The verdict has not entered into force.
