Statement of the press service of the Simferopol and Crimean Diocese
27 May 2022 of the year, a delegation of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese, headed by Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea, took part in a videoconference in the Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was held in the Holy Panteleimon Convent in Feofaniya, Kyiv.
Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea drew the attention of the members of the Council to the fact that the current canonical status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as a self-governing part of the Russian Orthodox Church is optimal. Also as delegates from the Simferopol and Crimean diocese took part in the Council:
— Bishop Nestor of Yalta, vicar of the Simferopol diocese;
— Bishop Kallinik of Bakhchisarai, vicar of the Simferopol diocese;
— from the clergy: Archpriest John Pristinsky, head of the legal department of the diocese, rector of the St. Elias Church in Saki;
— from the monastics: Abbess Paraskeva (Tishchenko), abbess of the Holy Trinity Paraskevievsky Toplovsky Convent;
— from the laity: Yaselskaya Lyudmila Alexandrovna.
During the meeting of the Council, amendments and additions to the Charter on the management of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, as well as the decision of the Council were adopted.
The delegation of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese unanimously voted against the adoption of the decision of the Council and the proposed amendments to the Charter on the administration of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The Diocese of Simferopol and Crimea remains under the omophorion of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
